In the first round of the qualifications of Sony Ericsson Open, the ATP Masters in Miami, USA, Grigor Dimitrov defeated Rik de Voest of South America 6-4 7-6(2). This was the second participation of Dimitrov at Masters tournament after Madrid in 2008 and first ever win. For advancing to the second round of the qualies Grigor gained 8 ATP ranking points.

Grigor Dimitrov left the €30K ATP Challenger tournament in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, after losing in the first round from the ex No 36 Karol Beck of Slovakia 6-7(3) 4-6. It was one of the weak matches of Dimitrov with low rate of 1st service, many errors at the back line and returns. There was a hope in the second set when Dimitrov succeed to reach from 2-5 to 4-5 and had 2 break-points but eventually Beck won the game, the set and the match.

Grigor Dimitrov won the title of the 42'500 EUR ATP Challenger in the French town of Cherbourg. At the final match Dimitrov defeated Nicolas Mahut of France with a score of 6-2 7-6(4).
