In the week preceding US Open Grigor Dimitrov will take part at Winston Salem Open in USA, ATP 250 tournament. He is seed 14 of the main draw and skips the first round to start in second round against the winner of Donald Young of USA, WC entrant, No 89, and Michael Berrer of Germany, No 82.

Seed 1 of the main draw is Andy Roddick of USA, No 15. The bottom half of the draw is led by Seed 2 and world No 18 Jurgen Melzer of Austria. Other top seeded players are Alexandr Dolgopolov, Ukraine, whom Dimitrov could meet in the 3rd round, John Isner, USA, Nikolay Davydenko, Russia. Ex No 1 the Australian Lleyton Hewitt entered the tournament with wild card and in the third round may play another ex No 1 Andy Roddick.

Grigor Dimitrov has the hard task to defend the 80 ranking points gained by winning the title at Geneva Challenger last year and for this he needs to reach the semifinals next week.

No 2 Bulgarian tennis player Dimitar Kutrovksy will start today in the qualifications pf the tournament in Winston Salem, this being first ever ATP level for him. Kutrovsky will need 3 wins to enter the main draw. His first match is against the non-ranked representative of the Dominican Republic Jose Hernandez.
