Grigor Dimitrov Beats Nick Kyrgios to Reach the Quarterfinals of Australian Open

21 Jan 2018
Grigor Dimitrov ended the hopes of the Australians for home champion in 42 years with win over Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round of Australian Open. Third seed Grigor Dimitrov won in the night session at Rod Laver Arena 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 7-6 (7-4).

"Playing against Nick is always tricky, two weeks ago I lost against him. He was serving unbelievably, playing unbelievably," said Dimitrov. "He fought really hard and it's one of those matches you have to take any opportunity you have. Even serving for the match I felt it wasn't over. I am just glad to get through that match."

On Tuesday Grigor Dimitrov will play the Brit Kyle Edmund in the quarterfinals. Grigor defeated Edmund two weeks ago in Brisbane.

#2: Was very sorry that you could not over come Edmund.
Come back to Australia stronger next year.
Tell your coach to stay calm during your matches as the world is watching.
They have beautiful men in Bulgaria. Takes my breath away.
There are lots of geocaches in Bulgaria as that is my sport.
It is good to do to relieve the stress of rigorous training and competition of tennis and you are still exercising and it takes you to beautiful places that you were not expecting.
Good luck in the Sofia Open in Bulgaria.
Will try to come to the Brisbane International as that is where I live but grew up in Victoria so tennis has always been with me.
Take care

#1: Yeeeees. Well done. To stand against 36 aces it takes something else..... I have no words to describe how happy I am. Watched the match and my kids are scared from me since then. (I was screaming and shouting so loud that even my neighbour came to check on me :))))).)
Masterclass tennis.
Keep it up and keep making us proud. Seeing my national flag on such a big competition does make me go back 20 years ago.
(sorry for not typing with Bulgarian alphabet, just my phone does not have one)

Good luck with the next match.

#0: Congratulations.
I think Kyrios has a bionic arm with a 218km serve like that
You get a speeding ticket for that in Australia.
I think if a ball was coming at me at that speed, I'd run let alone try and hit it.
So glad you beat him.
With you all the way
