Grigor Dimitrov is No 85

31 Jan 2011
Grigor Dimitrov entered ATP Top 100 for the first time in his career by moving 20 positions up to No 85. This way at his age of 19 Dimitrov became the top ranked Bulgarian tennis player ever. Back in year 2000 Orlin Stanoychev succeeded to reach No 96. Until the summer Grigor has only few points to defend which means that he would only move upwards in the ATP ranking.

The other Bulgarians are far behind Dimitrov in the ranking: Tihomir Grozdanov is No 551, Dimitar Kutrovsky - 569. At No 781 is Todor Enev. Two more Bulgarians are in Top 1000 - Valentin Dimov and Boris Nicola Bakalov.

There are two place swaps in Top 10. David Ferrer of Spain moves to No 6 ahead of Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic. Jurgen Meltzer of Austria goes to No 10 while Mikhail Youzhny of Russia goes out of Top 10. Rafael Nadal, Spain, is No 1 far ahead of Roger Federer of Swizterland and Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia. Robin Soderling of Sweden is No 4 and the AO finalist Andy Murray of Great Britain is No 5. No 8 and No 9 are respectively Andy Roddick of USA and Fernando Verdasco, Spain. Among the notable jumps in the ranking after their performance at Australian Open are Stanislas Wawrinka (Swizterland) - No 14, Alexandr Dolgopolov (Ukraine) - No 32, Tommy Robredo (Spain) - No 40, Kei Nishikori (Japan) - No 70, Richard Berankis (Lithuania) - No 73, Daniel Brands (Germany) - No 79, Blaz Kavcic (Slovenia) - No 83, Milos Raonic (Canada) - No 94.
