Grigor Dimitrov will not compete at the 2025 US Open, his manager Georgi Stoimenov confirmed. The decision stems from the recovery process following an injury sustained during Wimbledon.
Dimitrov was diagnosed with a partial tear of the pectoralis major muscle in his chest. Although initial assessments left room for optimism that he might return in time for the final Grand Slam of the season, that is no longer the case.
At this point, it is clear that Dimitrov will not be fully fit to compete in New York. As a result, he will miss the tournament where he reached the quarterfinals just a year ago.
The current plan is for Dimitrov to return to the tour during the Asian swing, with events in China scheduled for late September and early October. His condition continues to be closely monitored.
By withdrawing from the US Open, Dimitrov's remarkable streak of 58 consecutive Grand Slam appearances comes to an end. The streak began at the 2011 Australian Open and lasted uninterrupted through Wimbledon 2025, making it the longest among active players and the fifth-longest in the history of the sport.
