Grigor Dimitrov Knocks Out Gilles Simon at Wimbledon
30 June 2016
Grigor Dimitrov beat 16th seeded Frenchman Gilles Simon in the second round of Wimbledon 6-3 7-6(1) 3-6 6-4. Gilles Simon had five wins of the six matches played so far against Dimitrov. The Bulgarian overrun Simon in the first set and then again in the tie-break of the second set with very impressive attacks behind his first serve. The pattern changed in the third set after several errors by Dimitrov. After Simon broke in the fourth set it look like match might slip away from Dimitrov. But Grigor took the next 4 games to reach the victory.

“I mean, I didn't expect anything less from me today. I came out on the court and I played a very solid two sets. Third one I was not hitting the ball as well, I did a few unforced errors, but, you know, back at the fourth, I felt very comfortable.” Dimitrov said.

On Friday Grigor Dimitrov plays Steve Johnson of the USA in the third round. Dimitrov beat Johnson in the second round of last year's edition of Wimbledon. Then a month later the American beat Dimitrov in Washington.

The match is on Court 18 at around 5pm CET.
