Grigor Dimitrov handed Wimbledon main-draw wild card
16 June 2026
Grigor Dimitrov will line up in the main draw at Wimbledon. The Bulgarian has been awarded a wild card into the grass-court Grand Slam, which runs from 29 June to 12 July at the All England Club in London — confirmation coming from his manager, Georgi Stoimenov. The competition for this year's invitations was unusually fierce, but the organisers clearly decided that the former world No. 3 and three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist had earned his place.

Unfinished business from last year

That 2025 campaign is exactly why this return carries weight. In the fourth round, Dimitrov stood on the brink of one of the biggest wins of his career, leading world No. 1 Jannik Sinner by two sets to love. Then fate turned: a serious injury forced him to retire while in command of the match and kept him off the court for months — the start of a difficult stretch that has dragged his ranking down to around world No. 170, his lowest in nearly fifteen years.

A stage he knows well

If he takes his place in the draw, it will be Dimitrov's 16th main-draw appearance at SW19, the scene of some of his finest tennis, including a run to the semi-finals in 2014.

Grass-court tune-ups before London

Before heading to England, Dimitrov is sharpening up on grass. This week he headlines the Challenger 75 event in Dublin, after which he travels to Spain for the ATP 250 tournament in Mallorca (21–27 June) — a final warm-up in the week leading into Wimbledon. After a season defined by setbacks, the All England Club offers him a chance to write a happier chapter on the surface where he has always felt most at home.
